Strata law and reform

WA strata law is designed to help strata schemes run effectively. Use this page to access strata legislation and learn about the reforms that are improving how strata operates in Western Australia.

WA strata law

All registered strata properties in WA are subject to the Strata Titles Act 1985, which is administered by Landgate on behalf of the State Government. The Strata Titles Act 1985 (STA) and the Strata Titles (General) Regulations 2019 are available to view through the Western Australian Legislation website.

The STA covers the following:

  • The subdivision of land by strata titles schemes.
  • The creation of strata titles.
  • The governance and operation of strata titles schemes in WA, including the rights, authority and obligations of strata companies, strata councils and strata managers.

Landgate cannot provide legal advice on strata matters. We can only guide customers on a general basis, as to the rights and responsibilities set out by WA strata law. Learn how we can help you through our strata support services
