Where do I find a document number?

The document number is found on the Certificate of Title for your property. The number will either be in an alpha/numeric format (eg Z123456) or in a year-numbered format (eg 1234/1969).

A list of documents will be shown under 'Limitations, Interests, Encumbrances and Notifications'. The document number is listed first. Where there is no document number listed there will be reference to another document that may contain the information, such as a survey. You can order a survey online from Landgate.

Transfer documents are listed on the Certificate of Title in the 'First Schedule' where the registered proprietors are displayed. The transfer document number can be found there also.

Can I order a document without a Certificate of Title?

You will need a copy of a Certificate of Title to obtain the relevant document numbers. If you already have a Certificate of Title for your property then you do not need to order another one before ordering documents. However, it is recommended that you order a copy of your Certificate of Title to ensure you are viewing the most current information.

Can I order multiple documents at a time?

You can only add one document to your trolley at a time. However, when you are at the review trolley stage you can select 'continue shopping' and select another document to add to your trolley. There is no limit to the number of documents you can add to your trolley however they need to be added one at a time.

How do I know which document type I need?

The Certificate of Title will show the name of the document under the section 'Limitations, Interests, Encumbrances and Notifications' or, in the case of a transfer, under the 'First Schedule'. The document number will also be listed there.

Can I search for documents using my address?

No, you cannot search for documents through an address search. To order a document you must first know the document number and the type of the document you wish to order. You will need to obtain a copy of your Certificate of Title to obtain relevant document numbers.

Can I order a document for a property that I do not own?

Yes you can. All you need is the document number and type of the document you wish to purchase. You can find these on the Certificate of Title for the property of interest.
