Native title maps

Landgate is responsible for providing and maintaining an accurate spatial definition for the extent of native title applications lodged with the Federal Court and the Native Title Tribunal.

Landgate has a range of land tenure information, reports, maps, plots and customised information supporting native title claims over Western Australia. Landgate also has specific information in relation to applications and claims lodged with both the Federal Court and the Native Title Tribunal.

Native title claim underlying tenure and other interests reports

These reports are useful for those entities or individuals involved in project development. The reports cover specific claims include topographic and cadastral information as well as petroleum and mining information.

Reports on reserves can be attained outlining the responsibilities or vested authority, purpose and class, gazette date and/or document details. Lease type, purpose, register and contact details can also be supplied. In specific areas of the State, a historical land tenure search is available in map or report format.

Standard native title mapping products

Standard maps are available showing native title claims in three different formats:

Claim maps

Each native title claim has its own individual thematic map available with underlying land tenure.

Regional maps

Based on the six Aboriginal representative areas plus an enlargement over the metro area, the maps show all the claims in the region as filed in the Federal Court along with generalised land tenure. Regional maps available are: the Kimberley, Pilbara, Geraldton, Central Desert, South West, Goldfields and the metropolitan area.

State maps

Four different state-based maps, each with a different background theme, along with claims for the State as filed in the Federal Court. The four backgrounds available are: generalised land tenure, pastoral leases, Aboriginal representative areas and plain background.

Customised native title products

Information can be customised to meet your needs and supplied in map or report format. Customised information may encompass cadastre, local government boundaries, petroleum and mining interests, topographic information, CALM and Aboriginal interests in relation to Native Title Claim boundaries.

Landgate SLIP - LOCATE - native title

Designed to provide easier access to Landgate's cadastral and native title information to stakeholders who deal with native title claims over land in Western Australia. Landgate SLIP - LOCATE has layers: native title claims registered with the National Native Title Tribunal (NNTT) and the native title claims lodged with the Federal Court. The data can be interrogated using the native title name, the Federal Court reference number and the NNTT number. Information that can be retrieved includes legal representatives, registered claimants, status of the claim and a variety of dates at which actions have occurred. An enquiry on a piece of land can be made, producing the ability to see the claims graphically in relation to each other and to the underlying cadastral parcels is significant for users of Landgate.
