Capture WA
Landgate manages the Capture WA Program for WA government agencies that rely on location data for their day-to-day business.
The program coordinates the capture and sharing of different types of location data from across WA - from aerial and satellite imagery, to LiDAR, DEMs, cadastral, topographic data, and more. The program continues to expand and evolve to balance the delivery of emerging technology with cost-effective solutions.
The coordinated approach promotes accessibility, realises cost savings, protects Intellectual Property (IP), improves efficiency, and avoids duplication.
Any WA public sector agency or Local Government Authority can participate in the program. Submissions are assessed against government priorities and managed within a discrete budget. If your request does not receive program funding, Landgate will help to achieve the most cost-effective solution within your budget.
The program components include:
- Coordinated and prioritised effort. The Capture WA team works with the WALIS community to assess and endorse capture requirements for the benefit of the state.
- Simpler procurement processes. The team at Landgate will obtain and assess quotes and manage the contract and relationship with the supplier. An online procurement site is available for suppliers to provide quotes based on technical specifications, facilitating the use and adoption of emerging technologies.
- Easy access register. The Capture WA register is an online catalogue, planning and management tool. Agencies who wish to use the group buying power of the Capture WA panel contract are able to submit their location data requirements to the register.
