Summary

A Declared Plant is a weed that has been declared under the relevant Act.  Once a weed is declared, landholders are obliged to control that plant on their properties.

Description

A Declared Plant is a weed that has been declared as a Declared Pest under section 22 of the Biosecurity and Agriculture Management Act 2007.

If a plant is declared, landholders are obliged to control that plant on their properties.

Declarations specify a category, or categories, for each plant according to the control objective.

The three declaration categories are:

  • C1 Exclusion - the plant is not to be introduced to the whole or part of the State;
  • C2 Eradication - the plant is present in the State and is to be eradicated;
  • C3 Management - the plant is to be treated to reduce its harmful impacts, distribution or abundance, or to prevent or contain its spread.
