Investing in our people is critical to support Landgate’s future sustainability, achieve its vision and realise its potential. Landgate is proud to report that the authority is building a growing reputation as an employer of choice.
Landgate in the community
Landgate hosted a number of events during the year, including the annual NAIDOC celebration with the City of Swan.
The authority also hosted its annual International Women’s Day breakfast, attended by representatives from various local businesses, community groups and Landgate staff.
Staff also took part in many community events such as volunteer planting at Whiteman Park and the Cancer Council initiatives ‘Daffodil Day’ and the ‘Biggest Morning Tea’. Casual dress Fridays continued to be well supported and raised a significant amount of money which was donated to local charities.
Over the last 12 months Landgate has continued its efforts to limit its leave liability by actively encouraging staff to take leave to ‘recharge’. As a result, Landgate has maintained its leave liability at $18.9 million.
Developing our managers
Landgate’s commitment to preparing for the future is evidenced by the development of a People Management program which was piloted late in the year.
The program reinforces capabilities required to be an effective manager at Landgate. It introduces specific strategies to manage staff through change and the ongoing fluctuations of an ever-evolving environment.
Landgate will be better placed to deliver key business goals by ensuring its leaders develop and maintain these important skills.
To attract new talent to Landgate, work has been undertaken to improve the way the authority markets its career opportunities.
A ‘Life at Landgate’ video series has been developed, which highlights why current staff members enjoy working at Landgate. These videos are available to view on the corporate website.
Additional work has also been carried out to automate and streamline Landgate’s recruitment processes.
